One of the major negative effects of globalization is increased environmental damage from burning fossil fuels. Many industries who are responsible for the production of finished goods that are being exported from one country to another usually make use of heavy equipment that uses hydrocarbons and fossil fuels which are being emitted into the environment as nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and other poisonous (toxic) gases.

Pollution can be defined as the emission of toxic, poisonous and harmful chemical substances which are capable of causing environmental degradation and contamination.
