A study was conducted to determine whether an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any effect on the bone mineral content of
svp [43]

Using Hypothesis testing,

a) Two samples are independent.

b)H₀: an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any not effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

Hₐ : an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

c) Null hypothesis is accepted.

so, an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has no effect on the bone mineral.

We have given that,

A study which is conducted for check an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

For new-born whose mother's cigarette smoking

sample size , n₁= 77

X-bar, x₁-bar = 0.098 g/cm

standard deviations, s₁ = 0.026 g/cm

For new-born whose mother did not cigarette smoking

sample size , n₂ = 161

standard deviations, s₂ = 0.025 g/cm.

mean (X-bar) , x₂-bar = 0.095 g/cm

a) the two samples are independent since they are different types of mothers, smoking mothers and non smoking mothers

b)H₀: an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any not effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

Hₐ: an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has any effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

c) Test statistic:

t = (x₁-bar - x₂-bar )/S (√1/n₁+1/n₂)

where , S = √(s₁²(n₁ - 1) + s₂²(n₂ -1))/n₁+n₂ - 2

S = √((0.026)²(76) +(0.025 )²(160))/236

= 0.0253

then, t = (0.098 - 0.095 )/0.0253(√1/77 +1/161 )

=> t = 0.859

Using the critacal table critical t is

Critical t = ±1.970065

Degrees of freedom =236.0000

P-Value=0.3935 which is greater than α(0.05),

So , we accept H₀

Thus, an expectant mother's cigarette smoking has not effect on the bone mineral content of her otherwise healthy child.

You walk into a store that is closing. the pants normally cost $60.00 but it is discounted 75% they are also taking additional 2
eimsori [14]

Answer:

The final cost of the pants is $ 12.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that at a store that is closing the pants normally cost $ 60.00 but it is discounted 75%, and they are also taking an additional 20% off, to determine what is the final price for the pants, the following calculation must be performed:

100 - 20 = 80

(60 - (60 x 0.75)) x 0.80 = X

(60 - 45) x 0.80 = X

15 x 0.80 = X

12 = X

Thus, the final cost of the pants is $ 12.

The equation P= 21 + 2w models the perimeter, P, of a rectangle with a length of / units and a width of w units.
natima [27]

Answer:

width = 10 units and length = 20 units

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width be w

so Length will be 2w

using the rectangle formula:

\sf Perimeter \ of \ rectangle= 2L + 2W

\sf 60= 2(2w) + 2w

\sf 60= 4w + 2w

\sf 60= 6w

\sf w = 10 \ units

Find length:

\sf length = 2w

\sf length = 2(10)

\sf length = 20 \ units

Determine the value of the variable. 5 + 17 = J - 14
Nataly_w [17]
You would add 5 and 17 and that would equal 22
Now it would be 22=J-14
Then add 14 on both sides so it cancels out 22 plus 14 is 36
So J would equal 36
