Select the reason cities tended to develop at the fall line on rivers.
Anni [7]

c The fall line is where rivers are no longer navigable by ships traveling in from the ocean, so goods had to be offloaded.

Explanation:

Cities tended to develop at the fall line of rivers simply because rivers are no longer navigable by ships travelling from the ocean and goods have to be offloaded.

  • The fall line provides a natural demarcation where a coastal plain meets the upland area.
  • From this area, a river enters into the ocean.
  • Ships are built to navigate the ocean. Their design makes it impossible for them to coast through rivers which are smaller water bodies.
  • This prompts ships coming to offload around the region where the coastal plain meets the upland area the river is coming from.
  • Harbors and docks are usually built in such areas.
  • They are hubs of trade and commerce attracting a large population of people.
  • Therefore, cities invariably emerge.

Why is it important that scientists haven’t identified a Lokiarchaeota cell yet?
WARRIOR [948]
It's important because we need the scientists to discover where it is. The Lokiarchaeota is a main cause for infections, and diseases, and if we identify it, and study it, we may know how to cure certain diseases, and how to prevent them.

Give about 2 examples of how energy from the sun gets into your cells.
Alinara [238K]

What happens is the sun emits millions of waves of UV radiation, which is light particles to us. A wave of this UV radiation or light, takes about 8 minutes to get from the sun to earth, when the UV rays finally gets to earth, it is then filtered through our atmosphere, some light waves get in, but many bounce off.

jumping forward a few steps,

this light or UV radiation, penetrates our skin cells, about a couple inches or so.
the skin cells absorb the light, a similar process is seen by plants as photosynthesis,
and that's how we get a tan....

I hope this helps:)

How do sponges breath
zloy xaker [14]
Sponges are a type of aquatic animal whose body is covered in tiny pores called ostia. The ostia allow water, oxygen, and other nutrients to flow into the sponge's body, and for waste products like ammonia and carbon dioxide to exit their body. The respiratory system of a sponge is based on the process of diffusion.
