Answer: Defense is important in basketball because it prevents the other team from scoring and gaining points, which would allow them to win in the game. 2 types of defense are man-to-man defense and zone defense. In man-to-man, each player is assigned an opponent to defend against. They will follow them around while defending and keep near them. In zone defense, each player is assigned a zone on the court. They are responsible for defending that zone and defending against any opponents that might enter that zone. In this type of defense, the person you are defending against changes. However, they are both similar because in both types of defense you are preventing the opponent team from scoring.

A rectangle has a perimeter of 20 inches and an area of 24 square inches. What are the length and width of the rectangle?
s2008m [1.1K]
Perimeter = 2(L + W) = 20 or L + W = 10

And Area = L x W = 24

So with have the SUM "S" of 2 numbers and te PRODUCT "P' of same numbers, then

we can apply te quadratic equation X² -SX + P

X² - 10X + 24 = 0, solve this equation and you'll find L = 6 in and W = 4in

 or 4 in x 6 in
