Answer:

No, I don't think the US would be here today because the Articles of Confederation made the federal government incredibly weak and many laws wouldn't have been able to be passed since all 13 colonies had to agree. Also, the leaders wouldn't have been able to change the tax amount which caused immense chaos and might've led to the destruction of America as we know it.

Franklin valued a unified government because if the government and the people was united, a lot can be done and 99% of the time be successful.

The Spartan Assembly was part of the first democracy that preceded that of Athens by about 150 years. The Assembly was made up of citizens on the one hand and the Council of Elders was made up of the two kings and 38 elected citizens over age 60 and they were in there for life. The trouble is, the Council of Elders was too conservative and overly cautious so made it difficult for the Assembly to function properly.

Laws have more heavier consequences, laws are the legal version of rules. They are enforced by the government. Rules can be passed by individuals while laws are set by government.
