How to convert numbers to scientific notation

Mathematics

To convert to scientific notation, start by moving the decimal place in the number until you have a coefficient between 1 and 10; here it is 3.45. The number of places to the left that you had to move the decimal point is the exponent. Here, we had to move the decimal 4 places to the right, so the exponent is -4.

2340000 = 2.34 x 10^6

0.000034= 3.4 x 10^-5

Which equation can pair with 3x + 4y = 8 to create a consistent and independent system?
Hunter-Best [27]
There isn't any choices given in this problem but I can give you a tip to answer these kinds of problem. When you say independent, it means that the equation cannot be algebraically altered to result to 3x + 4y = 8. So the equation 6x + 8y = 16 is not an independent equation since when you divide each side by 2 it will result to 3x + 4y =8. You get the idea. <span />

The slope of the line is \frac{2}{1} (or just 2) as it rises by 2 units and runs to the left by 1 unit.

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! CORRECT ANSWER ONLY PLEASE!!!
ehidna [41]

Answer:  1) 0.10

               2) 0.60

               3) 0.20

               4) 0.10

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

The total frequency is 20+120+40+20 = 200.  This means they ran the experiment 200 times.  The probability distribution is calculated by the satisfactory number of outcomes (frequency) divided by the total number of experiments/outcomes (total frequency):

\begin{array}{c|c||lc}\underline{x}&\underline{f}&\underline{f\div 200}&\underline{\text{Probability Distribution}}\\1&20&20\div200=&0.10\\2&120&120\div 200=&0.60\\3&40&40\div 200=&0.20\\4&20&20\div 200=&0.10\end{array}\right]

A random sample of 23 items is drawn from a population whose standard deviation is unknown. The sample mean isx⎯ ⎯ x¯ = 840 and
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

(832.156, \ 847.844)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data :

Sample standard deviation, s = 15

Sample mean, \overline x = 840

n = 23

a). 98% confidence interval

$\overline x \pm t_{(n-1, \alpha /2)}. \frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}$

$E= t_{( n-1, \alpha/2 )} \frac{s}{\sqrt n}}

$t_{(n-1 , \alpha/2)} \frac{s}{\sqrt n}$

$t_{(n-1, a\pha/2)}=t_{(22,0.01)} = 2.508$

∴ $E = 2.508 \times \frac{15}{\sqrt{23}}$

  $E = 7.844$

So, 98% CI is

$(\overline x - E, \overline x + E)$

(840-7.844 ,  \ 840+7.844)

(832.156, \ 847.844)
