In 2011 and 2012, scientists working on the Banana River in Florida recorded a dramatic increase in the number of manatee deaths

. Over the past 50 years, this area has also seen the human population increase by more than 500,000 people. It is believed that pollution from numerous sewage tanks leaked into the water, eliminating the manatees' food source, replacing it with an alga that is toxic to the manatee. This is an example of A) a natural cycle in an ecosystem B) the effect of increased biodiversity on an ecosystem C) human actions altering ecosystems with serious consequences D) direct harvesting in an ecosystem

Answer:

C) human actions altering ecosystems with serious consequences

Explanation:

The increase in the manatee´s death during 2011-2012 might be directly related to human actions.

The increase in the number of people during the last 50 years to more than 500,000 individuals, and probably the lack of policies and regulation, lead to an enhance in water pollution by sewage tank leaks.

Pollution probably caused a gradual decrease in the manatee´s principal source of food, which also caused an increase in the toxic algae population.

Algae caused the death of manatees as a consequence of human action that altered the natural ecosystem by polluting water.

Explain the importance of the blood returning to the heart twice in one cycle
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

It is called a double circulatory system because blood passes through the heart twice per circuit. The right pump sends deoxygenated blood to the lungs where it becomes oxygenated and returns back to the heart. The left pump sends the newly oxygenated blood around the body.

What would happen to the body if it did not produce enzymes that break down acetylcholine?
Morgarella [4.7K]
when the breaking down of acetylcholine is not performed, then symptoms similar to those of poisoning with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors would occur. This would be highly hazardous to the human system as severe poisoning as we all know is very lethal. Even a fetus would not develop with this.

how would a change in the sequence of nucleotides in a DNA molecule affect the mRNA transcribed from the DNA molecule?
oksano4ka [1.4K]
There are several types of changes that could happen. If one of the letters of DNA were to be changed to a differnt letter, this might result in a differnt amino acid being put into the protein being synthesized. Or, changing a single letter could tell the protein to stop being made (a stop codon is formed) this would make a much smaller version of the protein. If a letter is either inserted or deleted this is called a "frame shift" mutation and this totally destroyes the message. A sudden change in the sequence of DNA could also "silence" the gene turning off transcription so that no mRNA would even be made. Or, it could enhance transcription increasing the ammount of mRNA. There are many many ways that a DNA mutation can affect mRNA, do you need anything more specific? Its very simple,mRNA is kinda messenger which takes information from genetic material(DNA) which will later get translated to functional protein. The information in genetic material is in the shape of sequence of nucleotides pairs.there are four kinda nucleotides 1.adenine,2.guanine3.cytosine4.thiamine.... nucleotides lare kinda codes which get imprinted on mRNA , where thiamine is exception coz it get transcribed to uracil.
,since mRNA does contain thiamine but it has a replacement known as uracil. So its very simple if there will be any change in nucleotide the information given to mRNA will also change .So u see sudden change in nucleotides will mean that information send to mRNA will get changed.other things getting affected would be protein..As mRNA will later translate this information to make proteins from amino acids
