Plastic is a pervasive recent fashion trend. Showcased far and wide at the AW18 shows, plastic macs and bags have made their way into almost every street styler's wardrobe. But from Yeezy’s strip-club homages, to Chanel’s waterproof go-go boots, plastic shoes seem the only way to truly commit to this environment-defying fashion moment. As we've just alluded to, the fabric is extremely divisive. Almost anti-fashion in its cheapness and quotidian associations, it's also an extraordinary statement of intent, considering the rest of the world is banning plastic straws and ever looking for new ways to protect the sea life that strangle themselves on shopping bags and beer can holders.
