E.coli is a bacterium which is preffered for transformation due to its rapid growth and high efficiency of introduction of DNA molecules into cells.

Tetracycline is an antibiotic used to treat several infections such as cholera, plague, brucellosis, and malaria etcetra.

Plasmid is a small, extrachromosomal DNA molecule present in cell which is seprated from chromosomal DNA and have ability to replicate independently.

When a plasmid resistant to tetracycline and kanamycine is inserted into E.coli, the process is called transformation. E.coli might not be able to survive due to absence of plasmid but the transformed strains having antibiotic tetracycline and kanamycine will probably be able to survive it.

Hence, the culture of bacteria carrying plasmid will be able to survive only.

The double membrane. It's theorized that chloroplasts used to be their own single-celled organism in the environment (and therefore with its own membrane). Then, the theory states, a larger cell took in the chloroplast by endocytosis, which involves surrounding the chloroplast in the large cell's own membrane. The chloroplast would then have two membranes surrounding it. This is similar to the thinking for mitochondria becoming an organelle as well. Hope this helps! :)

Eukaryotic transcripts (mRNA) have to undergo capping and splicing before it can be translated.

<h3>RNA processing:</h3>

1. An RNA transcript is first produced in a eukaryotic cell as a pre-mRNA, which needs to be converted into a messenger RNA (mRNA).

2. The RNA transcript is given a 5' cap at the start and a 3' poly-A tail at the end.

3. The process of splicing involves cutting out some RNA transcript segments (introns), then joining the remaining segments (exons) back together.

4. Some genes have the ability to alternate splices, which produces various mature mRNA molecules from the same beginning transcript.

The introns not only do not contain the information necessary to construct a protein, but they also need to be cut off in order for the mRNA to create a protein with the correct sequence. An mRNA with extra "junk" in it will be created if the spliceosome fails to remove an intron, and the translation process will result in the production of the incorrect protein.
