The radio waves that travel through the air to our car/truck/home radios are just another type of light. Let's say that your fav

orite radio station is 87.9 on the FM dial. That means that those radio waves have a frequency of 87.9 MHz. (a) What are the wavelength and energy of those radio waves? (b) How fast would these radio waves travel through water?

Answer:

Explanation:

(a) Electromagnetic waves travels at the speed of light = 3.0 x 10^{8} m/s.

v = fλ

where v is the velocity of the wave, f is the frequency, and λ wavelength.

So that;

λ = \frac{v}{f}

  = \frac{3.0*10^{8} }{87.9*10^{6} }

  = 3.413 m

ii. Enegy of the wave can be determined by;

E = hf

where h is the Planck's constant and f the frequency of the wave.

E = 6.626 x 10^{-34} x 87.9 x 10^{6}

  = 5.82 x 10^{-26} J

(b) Refractive index of water = \frac{velocity of light in air}{velocity of light in water}

velocity of light in water = 1.33 x 3.0 x 10^{8}

       = 3.99 x 10^{8} m/s

A car increases velocity from 0 m/s to 15 m/s in 2 seconds. What is the car’s acceleration?
nlexa [21]

Answer:

7.5 m/s^2

Explanation:

v=at

a= v/t

Since you have to v so

(v2- v1) /t

(15-0)/2= - 7.5

When the displacement of a mass on a spring is 12 A, what percentage of the energy is kinetic energy?
Zolol [24]

Answer:

1.44%

Explanation:

The potential energy of a spring is given by

U=\dfrac{1}{2}kx^2

The kinetic energy is

E=\dfrac{1}{2}kA^2

Now x = 12 A

Applying in the first equation

U=\dfrac{1}{2}k(12A)^2\\\Rightarrow U=\dfrac{1}{2}k144A^2\\\Rightarrow U=144\dfrac{1}{2}kA^2\\\Rightarrow U=144E

The percentage would be 14400%

at x=\dfrac{1}{2}A (makes more sense)

U=\dfrac{1}{2}k(\dfrac{1}{2}A)^2\\\Rightarrow U=\dfrac{1}{2}k\dfrac{1}{4}A^2\\\Rightarrow U=\dfrac{1}{4}\times \dfrac{1}{2}kA^2\\\Rightarrow U=0.25E

The percentage is 25 % of the kinetic energy

Electrons can move from place to place. When they do move, which way do they go?
irinina [24]
Electrons move from a negatively charged area to a positively charged area, as they are attracted to positive objects.

<h3>What is Impulse?</h3>

The Impulse applied to an object causes a change in the momentum of the object. Impulse is the product of force and time of impact.

J = Ft

where;

  • J is the impulse
  • F is the applied force
  • t is the time of impact

The increase in the time of impact increases the impulse experienced by the object, and a decrease in the time of impact causes a decrease in the impulse experienced by the object.

Thus, we can conclude that the foam decreases the time of impact because it cushions the effect of impact.

How can natural events such as floods hurricanes and tornadoes be predicted
mojhsa [17]

Answer:

Predicting the size, location, and timing of natural hazards is virtually impossible, but now, earth scientists are able to forecast hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wildfires, and landslides using fractals.
