Eisenhower developed an unstated but evident "no dismantling, no great expansion." approach to the New Deal programs during his Presidency. He did not not set out to destruct what the other party had done for 20 years. At the same time he didn't want anything experimental or heavy handed.

There is a tiny splinter group of course that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few other Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.
The horrible slavery conditions said people were put through. Men who were thinner than twigs, malnutrition, the horrible sleeping conditions. The worst of it was the amount of people assigned to one area, it was horrific, to say the least.
