Why does water heat up and cool down slowly?

Because water has such a high "specific heat" ... it takes so much heat energy to raise the temperature of a pot or a glass of water by only 1 degree. There's only one other substance on Earth that stores more heat than water does for such a small change in temperature. (Liquid ammonia ... 12% more than water.)
That's one reason why, for example, we use water ice to cool our drinks ... it takes SO MUCH heat out of the drink just to melt the ice cube and then to warm up the melted freezing water that comes from it.
That's also why cities near the ocean or a big lake have cooler summers and warmer winters. In the Summer, the water nearby takes lot of heat away from the city and stores it, without getting full of heat. In the Winter, the warm water nearby pours out heat to keep the city warm, without running out of the heat that it holds.

Specific Heat Capacity. It has a high one so it takes a lot of energy to raise or lower the heat by 1 degree.

Endosymbiont theory explains some of the differences and similarities between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Categorize the followi
spayn [35]

Answer:

Endosymbiont theory was proposed by Lynn Margulis in 1967 which suggested the origin of Chloroplast and mitochondria in eukaryotic cells.

The theory suggested that chloroplast and mitochondria organelle originated by engulfing the cyanobacteria and proteobacteria by other prokaryotic bacteria.

This shows that Prokaryotes exhibit the following characters:

1. These were the first organisms on Earth

2. Lack membrane-bounded

3. Aerobic bacteria are these types of cells

Eukaryotes exhibit:

1. Have mitochondria

2. Includes organisms that carry out aerobic respiration

3. Can be a multicellular organism

4. Includes organisms that are photosynthetic

5. Might have chloroplasts

inna [77]

Answer:

Explanation:

If severe, anxiety and fear, can affect a client's condition during and after surgery. During the surgical process, an anxious client will respond poorly to the surgery .The patient may also be prone to other complications.

Extreme anxiety may cause unpleasant symptoms and stress such as a pounding heart, a racing heart (fast pulse), irregular heartbeat, nausea, a nervous stomach, shortness of breath and sleep problems. Also, during the surgical process, anxiety can make pain worse, as well as making it harder to cope with the pain.

In addition, anxiety can also make it harder to understand and remember important advices given to the patient about the operation, such as how to prepare for it or about recovering afterwards.
