Find the least common multiple of 14 and 16.

14 = 7*2   ----> multiply by 8 ----> 8*7*2 = 112
16 = 8*2 ----> multiply by 7  -----> 7*8*2 = 112

The LCM is 112. This means it will be 112 minutes before they dump water at the same time.

112 min = 1 hr 52 min

3:20 + 1hr 52 min = 5:12

For the next time, add another 112 minutes

Answers: 5:12 PM  and  7:04

For this, you want to find the least common multiple of 14 and 16 which is 112 (minutes)
now just add this to the time given which gives you

The probability is 0.1253.

This is binomial because 1) there are two outcomes (either do or do not use in class); 2) the events are independent of each other (the probability of one person using a phone in class does not affect the probability of another person doing this); and 3) there is a fixed number of trials (9).
