Hey there!

If we're solving for "x" then follow these steps

Add 9 to each of your sides

Like: 4x - 9 + 9 \\ = 35 +9

That gives us: 4x = 44

Divide by the number 4 on each of your sides

Like: \frac{4x}{4}   =  \frac{44}{4}

We cancel: \frac{4x}{4} because fives us a 1

We keep:\frac{44}{4} because it gives us a 11 (our answer)

Answer: x = 11

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day

So first

4x+8-17=35
So make the equation equal 0
4x +8 -17 -35=0

Combine like terms

4x-44= 0

Add 44 to 0

4x =44

Divide by 4

X = 11

Good luck :D

Cora says he dosen't need to know the y-interce of a line to write its equation,just its slope and some other point on the line.
Soloha48 [4]

Answer:

Yes, Cora is correct.

The equation of line with point  (2,6) and slope of line (-1/3)

is x + 3y - 20 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

Yes, the equation of a line can be written using a point and a slope of the line equation.

Cora has used the POINT SLOPE FORMULA, to represent the line equation.

In <u>Point Slope formula</u>:

The equation with slope m and points (x0,y0) can be written as:

(y-y0) =m (x-x0)

Here, the point (x0,y0) = (2,6)

and slope m = (-1/3)

So, the equation can be written as:( y - 6) =\frac{-1}{3} (x-2) \\\implies 3( y-6) = (2-x)\\or, 3y - 18 -2 + x = 0\\or, x + 3y - 20 = 0

Hence, the equation of line with point  (2,6) and slope of line (-1/3)

is x + 3y - 20 = 0
