We get to know Jill’s true personality and how she views the world, with her cynical attitude and narrow focus, as well as her need for control and fear of losing it. With third-person omniscient, we may have been provided with how the other characters viewed Jill as she struggled in this situation, and how perhaps she didn’t hide her fear and anxiety as well as she thought. With Jill’s thoughts and feelings an open book to us in first person it made her relatable, made the focus on her, we may have lost some of that in third person. Her feeling could have been choppy and disjointed when we hopped from character to character. Instead of feeling suspense and anxiety with Jill, as in first person. We might have just felt it for her, we might not feel as connected to her as a character, we may have cringed and judged her more then move through the story with her.
