Which statement correctly describes John Adams's presidency? A. He served two successful terms and was nominated for a third. B.
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]
A is wrong, as if you check, John Adams' presidency was from 1797 to 1801--only a single four year term.
B is true. Since George Washington made the Proclomation of Neutrality before him, John Adams ended up having to uphold it. There's a famous debacle called the XYZ Affair where US diplomats were stopped from talking to the French foreign minister by his agents unless they paid a hefty bribe. (whose names were replaced with X, Y, and Z when Adams released the documents so as to avoid involvement in French wars)
C is wrong. John Adams' wife, Abigail Adams, had been married to Adams for over thirty years before he took office.
D is wrong. The Louisiana Purchase was in 1803, during which the third president, Thomas Jefferson, was in office.

29. how did the us tariff policies contribute to the civil war?
olga_2 [115]
The US government had imposed tariff policies that set a higher price on imported (foreign) manufactured goods. Because the South was an agricultural economy, it either had to ship down form the North or import from other countries most of the finished goods it consumed. Either option increased the cost of goods for Southerners over the prices paid by Northerners. Because the North was a largely industrial economy, and because raw materials imported for manufacturing were not subject to tariffs, the North faced no such burden. Additionally, because there was no income tax at this time, federal gov't revenue depended largely on tariff revenue -- which meant it was paid disproportionately by the South. This revenue was spent on railroads in the North and in other ways that unfairly benefitted the North while largely ignoring infrastructure and development in the South. South Carolina threatened secession as far back as 1828 over the unfair burden of the protective tariffs.

Do you think the Mayan political and government structure was more similar or different when compared to the Song Dynasty in Chi
Alika [10]

Answer:

More difference.

Explanation:

Mayan government structure was different as compared to the Song Dynasty because Mayan government consist of city-states that govern independently and there is no centralized government while there is a centralized government present in Song Dynasty. Mayan government has no regular army while Song Dynasty has a strong military force.

One similarity is also present between Mayan government and Song Dynasty such as both were ruled by the kings (monarchy).
