A nation governed by the rule of law is one with a well-developed and civilized judicial system, based on principles such as equality of law, the rule of law, the separation of powers and the sovereignty of the people.
In the rule of law, the executive acts under democratic control and the courts of society function independently of the central administration. The citizens of the rule of law have certain fundamental rights and freedoms, but also the duty to abide by the laws of the land. Citizens are also entitled to a fair trial by the administrative authorities and the courts.
