Answer:

The kite is about 44.1 feet high.

Step-by-step explanation

Since you are trying to find the height, you would draw a triangle to diagram which sides you need to use. The 123 ft of string would be the hypotenuse of the triangle while the 21 degrees is the theta. You are trying to find the height and from the theta that would be the opposite side so you would use sine because you are using opposite and hypotenuse.

sin21=x/123

You have sin of 21 because that is the angle measure, then opposite over hypotenuse which is x/123.

You then multiply both sides by 123 to get the variable of x alone on one side.

123sin21=x

Then just plug this into your calculator and round to the nearest tenth and you get 44.1 feet.

Hope this helped explain how to do these problems, I had trouble doing them awhile back in Algebra 2 so hope this helped out a little.

3x + 3y =15 and x = -3y -1
saul85 [17]

Answer:

  (x, y) = (8, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

You can substitute for x in the first equation:

  3(-3y -1) +3y = 15

  -6y = 18 . . . . . add 3 and simplify

  y = -3 . . . . . . . divide by -6

  x = -3(-3) -1 = 8 . . . . find x using the second equation

The solution to this system of equations is (x, y) = (8, -3).

Listed below are the top 10 annual salaries (in millions of dollars) of TV personalities. Find the mean, median, mode, and midra
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

a. 20.23

b. 14.1

c. 8.3, 9.2, 9.8, 12.1, 13.5, 14.7, 26.5, 34.7, 36.5, 37

d. 22.65

Step-by-step explanation:

Sum = 202.3

Count = 10

Mean = 202.3 / 10

Mean = 20.23

Since there is an even number of data values the median is the mean of the two data values in the middle, calculated as follows;

8.3, 9.2, 9.8, 12.1, 13.5, 14.7, 26.5, 34.7, 36.5, 37

Median = (13.5 + 14.7) / 2

Median = 14.1

Mode is the value or values in the data set that occur most frequently. Since all are occurred once so all the values will be considered as Mode;

Mode = 8.3, 9.2, 9.8, 12.1, 13.5, 14.7, 26.5, 34.7, 36.5, 37

Midrange = (Highest Value + Lowest Value) / 2

Midrange = (37 + 8.3) / 2

Midrange = 22.65

In engineering, the modulus of elasticity is a way to measure how much an object deforms along an axis when opposing forces are
Allushta [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider an engineering material of initial length Lo, Area (A), Modulus of elasticity (E) and applied a force P due to which change in the length of the material is δ2 from it’s original length (Lo)

Initial length of the material is Lo. Hence, at time t = 0 when no force applied on the material the length of the material will not change (i.e., at time t=0, δ1 = 0)

Modulus of elasticity of the material:

E=\frac{P \cdot L_{o}}{A\left[\delta_{2}-\delta_{1}\right]}

Area of the material:

E=\frac{P \cdot L_{o}}{A\left[\delta_{2}-\delta_{1}\right]}

A=\frac{P \cdot L_{o}}{E\left[\delta_{2}-\delta_{1}\right]}

Length of the material:

E=\frac{P \cdot L_{0}}{A\left[\delta_{2}-\delta_{1}\right]}

L_{0}=\frac{E \cdot A\left[\delta_{2}-\delta_{1}\right]}{P}
