A serial dilution is performed on a culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Brewer's yeast). A 1:10 dilution was performed in serie

Answer: CFU/mL = 14200 CFU/mL

Explanation:

Microorganisms are very small and difficult to count directly. Instead, a laboratory technique is used to count CFUs (Colony Formation Units). This involves making dilutions of a microbial suspension and spreading it on thin layers of agar containing nutrients for growth in Petri dishes also called agar plates. After incubation under ideal conditions, some plates are completely covered with microbial growth; some have little or no growth; and some are covered with individual isolated "spots", which are microbial colonies. Since a colony may consist of a single organism or a group of microbes, the dots represent a CFU.

To calculate the viable count of the stock culture, you have to count the number of colonies, multiply by the dilution and the result will be the plate count in CFU.

So, the equation is:

CFU/mL = Number of colonies / (Volume trasferred to plate x dilution blank)

100 microliters = 0.1 mililiter

1/10 = 0.1 (dilution factor)

Replacing the information from the question:

CFU/mL = 142 / (0.1 mL x 0.1)

CFU/mL = 14200 CFU/mL

How is nitrogen from the atmosphere, the abiotic part of the ecosystem, converted in to the biotic part of the ecosystem of the
Vsevolod [243]
In the process of the nitrogen cycle.
The nitrogen cycle is a biogeochemical succession process of nitrogen that involves: fixation, ammonification, nitrification, and denitrification. Like any other biogeochemical cycles. This process undergoes and affects the biological, geometrical and chemical aspects in the ecosystem and the abiotic and biotic community. Hence, the nitrogen cycle leads the abiotic component –nitrogen- to contribute to the biotic community, decomposition and primal production. Further, it becomes an essential part of the environment because some life components are contains it, similarly, amino acids, nucleic acids in RNA and DNA.

Colton has an ice cube that has a mass of 4 grams. He places it in a sealed container and then puts it in the microwave on high.
Jobisdone [24]

Hello!

The sentence that best describes what Colton discovers is D) The mass of the melted ice cube remained the same at 4 grams.

Why?

The melting of the ice cube is a physical process. That means that it is a process in which the identity of the substance (water) doesn't change, but only how their molecules are arranged.

In melting, a substance in the solid state changes to the liquid state. Its molecules go from having a definite volume and shape to having the same shape as the container that holds it, but there are no changes in the mass of the substance.

If the container is closed, Colton should record the same mass as the initial one, as mass doesn't change in physical processes.

Have a nice day!
