Mrs. Jones was very proud of her apple tree. One autumn, after harvesting her apples, she called her three sons together. “Here

are 150 apples,” she said. “I want you to take them to the market tomorrow and sell them for me.” She gave Paul 15 apples, Nick 50, and Ben 85. “Your job,” added Mrs. Jones, “is to sell the apples in such a way that each of you brings home the same amount of money.” How do they do it?

I think that the first person who came along to buy apples would have to buy 12 dozen apples at $1 per dozen. Paul’s sells one dozen, Nick sells 4 dozen, and Ben sells seven dozen. After that, Paul has 3 apples, Nick has 2, and Ben has 1. If they all sent their remaining apples at a price of $3, Paul would earn 9 more dollars, Nick would earn 6, and Ben would earn three. That puts them each with a profit of $10.

Segment MP is tangent to circle O. Find the length of the radius of circle O.
Bad White [126]

R = 10.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Using Pythagorean theorem, we can write

(OM)^2 + 10^2 = (OR + 4)^2

Since OM = OR, let's call this segment R for brevity.

R^2 + 10^2 = (R + 4)^2

R^2 + 100 = R^2 + 8R + 16

This simplifies to

8R = 84

or R = 10.5

Can anyone help me please ????

Hey there! The topic for this problem is Limit of Function!

As for the question, we are given the quadratic function and we have to find the limit, the value that approaches to a.

\large \boxed{lim_{x \longrightarrow a} f(x)}

We call this, "The limit of f(x) when x approaches a."

Then you may ask, "How do we find the limit of function?". That is a very nice question! The answer to your problem is <u>j</u><u>u</u><u>s</u><u>t</u><u> </u><u>s</u><u>u</u><u>b</u><u>s</u><u>t</u><u>i</u><u>t</u><u>u</u><u>t</u><u>e</u><u> </u><u>x</u><u>-</u><u>v</u><u>a</u><u>l</u><u>u</u><u>e</u><u> </u><u>i</u><u>n</u><u>.</u> Although this substitution method only applies when the approaching value doesn't make the denominator to 0. I believe that in the beginning of Limit topic, we learn how to find or evaluate the basic limit that only requires substitution.

So from the question, we receive:

\large{lim_{x \longrightarrow  2} ( {x}^{2}  - 3x - 1)}

Next step is to <u>s</u><u>u</u><u>b</u><u>s</u><u>t</u><u>i</u><u>t</u><u>u</u><u>t</u><u>e</u><u> </u><u>x</u><u> </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>2</u> in the function.

\large{lim_{x \longrightarrow  2} ( {2}^{2}  - 3(2) - 1)}

Evaluate the value.

\large{lim_{x \longrightarrow  2} ( 4 - 6 -  1)} \\  \large{lim_{x \longrightarrow  2} (  - 3)}

Cancel the limit out and there you have it!

\large \boxed{ - 3}

Answer

  • The limit of quadratic function when x approaches 2 is -3.

Now whenever you learn limit, you must know that limit is when we substitute the <u>a</u><u>p</u><u>p</u><u>r</u><u>o</u><u>a</u><u>c</u><u>h</u><u>i</u><u>n</u><u>g</u><u> </u><u>v</u><u>a</u><u>l</u><u>u</u><u>e</u><u>.</u> That means x —> 2 is not x = 2 but x approaches 2.

Regarding the limit, any questions and doubts can be asked through comment and I will get back to you soon!

Thank you for using Brainly and I hope you have a fantastic day! Good luck on the assignment.

Point T is located at (6, –2) and point S is located at (1, 13). What are the coordinates of the point that is `\frac{4}{5}` of
vlabodo [156]

The coordinates of the point that is 4/5 of the way from T to S is (2,10)

<h3>How to determine the coordinates of the point?</h3>

The given parameters are:

T = (6,-2)

S = (1,13)

Location = 4/5

The location 4/5 means

Ratio, m : n = 4 : 1

The coordinate is then calculated as:

(x,y) = \frac{1}{m +n} * (mx_2 + nx_1,my_2 + ny_1)

This gives

(x,y) = \frac{1}{4 +1} * (4 * 1 + 1 * 6 , 4 * 13 + 1  * -2)

Evaluate

(x,y) = \frac{1}{5} * (10 , 50)

This gives

(x,y) =  (2,10)

Hence, the coordinates of the point that is 4/5 of the way from T to S is (2,10)
