i know which generation u are talking about, it seems like the 1999 to 2004 mustang, there is no (GL, Sport, and XL) trim level for the mustang those are only for the trucks, the real trim levels are (base, GT and cobra}

the base comes with the standard 3.8L v6

the GT comes with the 2 valve per cylinder 4.6 V8

the cobra comes with the 4 valve per cylinder 4.6 V8

it never came with a 3.0 unless you mean 4.0, the 4.0 came out as the standard v6 in 2005.
