The ramp,the rise and the base, when illustrated, will form a right triangle. The hypotenuse is the ramp which measures 200 ft long. The rise is the vertical height which measures 37 feet. As you can see in the picture, the arc drawn below the ramp to the horizontal line directing to the freeways is the unknown angle that we have to find.

First, we find the angle made between the ramp and the rise (dashed line). Let's denote this is angle α. We make use trigonometric functions like cosine. Cosine of an angle is equal to the ratio of its adjacent side to the hypotenuse. In equation form:

cos α = 37/200, where α is the angle of inclination of the ramp
cos α = 0.185
α =cos^-1(0.185)
α = 79.34°

Next, let's denote the unknown angle as angle β. When you add the right angle and angle α, the sum would be angle β. Therefore,

β = 90° + 79.34°
β = 169.34°

Answer:

a = 79.339°

X= 10.661°

Step-by-step explanation:

The ramp is 200 ft long and 37 ft rise.

Hypotenuse = 200

Adjacent = 37

To calculate for angle

Let the angle be a

Cosa = adj/hyp

Cosa = 37/200

Cosa = 0.185

a = cos^-1*0.185

a = 79.339°

This is a right angle triangle so let's sum the whole angle to find the missing one.

79.339 + 90+ x = 180

X = 180-169.339

X= 10.661°

Seven less than sixteen times a number is equal to the same number reduced by 5. What is the number?
Romashka [77]

Answer:

x = 2/15

Step-by-step explanation:

first, create a formula or expression

16x - 7 = x - 5

move x, subtract it

15x - 7 = -5

add 7

15x = 2

divide by 15

x = 2/15

sub in to check:

-4.85667 = -4.86667
