Could plants survive without sunlight, and survive off of just water and vitamin d? Since vitamin d comes from the sun? Or can only sunlight make chlorophyll and support a plant?

I know this is true because when I was in fourth grade, my class and I did an experiment with grass.  We each had two cups full of dirt we put grass seeds in.  We each put one of our cups in a cabinet where no light could get to them and watered them every day, and we put our other cups by the window so they could get sun but we wouldn't water them.  We would check on our grass every day to see how much they have grown, or if they even have started to grow.  After a month, we all got both of our grass back and you could tell they grew to get long.  That is my evidence to my answer.
