Problem 1

height of flagpole = meters (SI), feet (imperial)

area of walls = square meters (SI), square feet (imperial)

amount of water = liters (SI), gallons (imperial)

volume of grocery bag = liters (SI), gallons (imperial)

-----------

There's not much explanation here. It's simply something you memorize.

======================================================

Problem 2

1 ft = 12 inches

5 ft = 60 inches .... multiply both sides by 5

5 ft, 10 in = 60+10 = 70 inches

To convert from inches to cm, we multiply by 2.54 (approx)

70 in = 70*2.54 = 177.8

Shane is roughly 178 cm tall

======================================================

Problem 3

1 km = 1000 m

0.65 km = 650 m .... multiply both sides by 0.65

1 m = 100 cm

650 m = 65000 cm ... multiply both sides by 650

We can see that 0.65 km is the same as 65000 cm

======================================================

Problem 4

1 pound = 16 ounces

Based on this, we divide by 16 to go from ounces to pounds

50 oz = 50/16 = 3.125 pounds

Jesse is filling spherical balloons. When full, one of these balloons has a diameter of 24\text{ cm}24 cm24, start text, space,
alina1380 [7]

Answer:

Answer is 8.8

Step-by-step explanation:

The diameter is 24\text{ cm}24 cm24, start text, space, c, m, end text, so the radius is \maroonD{12\text{ cm}}12 cmstart color #ca337c, 12, start text, space, c, m, end text, end color #ca337c.

\begin{aligned} \text{volume}_{\text{sphere}} &= \dfrac{4}{3}\pi (\text{radius length})^3 \\\\ \text{volume}_{\text{full}} &= \dfrac{4}{3}\pi (\maroonD{12})^3\\\\ &\approx \purpleD{7{,}238} \end{aligned}

What does the transformation f(x)↦f(-x) do to the graph of f(x)?
Vlad1618 [11]
The function will simply get reflected about the y-axis.
Let's approach this through what we know. Since we know that the x values are mirrored, we know that the points in Quadrant I and IV will be reflected over to the negative side, Quadrants II and III, because they simply change in signs.

However, we also know that the function y-values do not change. This is because whatever the x values are don't change the range and y-values of an even function.

To be more specific, if we have an even function, we are most likely dealing with quadratics or variants/transformations of the quadratic function.

If we were to have 2, and -2, and we wanted to plug them into the equation:
y = x^{2} + C, the signs do not change the y-values of the function.
Hence, we know that it ONLY gets reflected across the y-axis.
