12345 [234]

Samuel was going with 40 km/h and Heather was going with 37 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

Starting at the same point at the same time, Samuel and Heather rode their bikes in the same direction

  • Samuel traveled 3 km/h faster than Heather
  • After 3.5 h Samuel stopped for a half-hour break, but Heather kept going
  • Heather was 8 km ahead of Samuel

We need to find how fast each was going

Assume that Heather's speed is x km/h

∵ Heather's speed = x km/h

∵ Samuel traveled 3 km/h faster than Heather

∴ Samuel's speed = x + 3 km/h

The formula of the distance is distance = speed × time

∵ Samuel travel for 3.5 hours

- Find the distance that Samuel traveled in 3.5 h

∴ Samuel distance = (x + 3) × 3.5

- Multiply the bracket by 3.5 to simplify

∴ Samuel distance = 3.5x + 10.5

∵ Samuel took a break for half hour

∵ Heather kept going

∵ At the end of the break, Heather was 8 km ahead of Samuel

- That means Heather was going for 4 hours (3.5 + 0.5), and her

   distance is longer than Samuel distance by 8 km

∴ Heather distance = x × 4 = 4x

- Subtract the distance of Samuel from the distance of Heather

   and equate the difference by 8

∵ 4x - (3x + 10.5) = 8

∴ 4x - 3x - 10.5 = 8

- Add the like terms in the left hand side

∴ 0.5x - 10.5 = 8

- Add 10.5 to both sides

∴ 0.5x = 18.5

- Divide both sides by 0.5

∴ x = 37

∵ x represents Heather's speed

∴ Heather's speed = 37 km/h

∵ x + 3 represents Samuel's speed

∴ Samuel's speed = 37 + 3 = 40 km/h

Samuel was going with 40 km/h and Heather was going with 37 km/h

Help please lol :)))))))
nasty-shy [4]
How come it’s a right triangle, I think you do a2+b2=C2. Therefore, you do 9.4 times 9.4 and then 15.1 times 15.1. So it will be 9.4 + b2=15.1. 88.36+ b2=228.01. Then you subtract that and it will be 139.65. Then you do square roots because you are trying to get rid of the second power. And the final answer is 11.81736011. How they told you to round it to the nearest tenth, I will be 11.8. I think this is the answer.

The number of chairs on a ski lift is inversely proportional to the distance between them a lift has 70 chairs when there’s spac
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

Space between 80 evenly spaced chairs = 21m

Step-by-step explanation:

So, according to the given statement, we have the following expression:

No. of chairs ∝ \frac{1}{Distance.Between.chairs}

70 chairs are 24m apart, so it can be written as:

70  ∝ \frac{1}{24}

For, 1 chair , we divide both sides by 70

\frac{70}{70} ∝ \frac{1}{24(70)}

1 ∝ \frac{1}{24 (70)}               -----------------------(Equation 1)

<u>For 80 chairs:</u>

Multiply both sides of <em>Equation.1</em> by 80

80  ∝ \frac{80}{24 (70)}

80  ∝ \frac{1}{21}

So according to the above relation,

<em>80 evenly spaced chairs will have a space of </em><em>21 m</em><em> between them.</em>

As part of a survey, 150 students were asked to name their favorite class. 50 points
disa [49]
A:40%
If you put 60 over 150 and x(percent of students) over 100 and cross multiply 100 and 60, you will get 6000. You then divide that by 150 which leaves you with 40 as x and 40 over 100 is 40%.
