I know that to be a direct variation the graph has to follow the form, y=kx, where K is the constant and x and y are the coordinates on the graph.

Which mapping shows the function represented by these ordered pairs? (4, 5), (8, 5), (1, 3), (6, 4)
Sav [38]
As in the question, the options for functions are not shown, I am solving the correct function representation of the ordered pairs: <span>(4, 5), (8, 5), (1, 3), (6, 4) as is represented in the picture.

Note:</span>A function is a relation in which no two ordered pairs have the same first coordinate i.e. x - value is same however, the y-value can be same.  Thus, this function is also a relation.

Use the Polygon tool to draw the image of the given quadrilateral under a dilation with a scale
Nataly [62]

Answer: See the picture attached.

Step-by-step explanation:

A Dilation is defined as  a transformation in which the image and the pre-image have the same shape, but their sizes are different.

When the scale factor is greater than 1, the image obtained after the  dilation is greater than the pre-image and it is an "Enlargement".

When the scale factor is is between 0 and 1,  the image obtained after the  dilation is smaller than the pre-image and it is an "Reduction".

In this case we know that the scale factor is:

scale\ factor=\frac{2}{3}

Since:

0

It is a Reduction.

You can identify that the vertices of the quadritaleral are:

(-3,0),(-9,-3),(-6,-9),(3,-6)

 So you need to multiply the coordinates of eac vertex by \frac{2}{3} in order to get the coordinates of the image.

Then, you get:

(\frac{(-3)(2)}{3},0*\frac{2}{3})=(-2,0)\\\\(\frac{(-9)(2)}{3}),\frac{(-3)(2)}{3})=(-6,-2)\\\\(\frac{(-6)(2)}{3},\frac{(-9)(2)}{3})=(-4,-6)\\\\(3*\frac{2}{3},\frac{(-6)(2)}{3})=(2,-4)

Now you can plot the points and draw the image of the given quadrilateral.

See the picture attached.

What is the solution to the equation StartFraction y Over y minus 4 EndFraction minus StartFraction 4 Over y + 4 EndFraction = S
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

(y/y - 4) - (4/y + 4) = 32/y^2 - 16

Note y^2 - 16 = (y - 4 ) × (y + 4)

Multiplying the equation; both sides by y^2 - 16,

y (y + 4) - (4(y - 4)) = 32

y^2 + 4y - 4y + 16 = 32

y^2 = 32 - 16

Squaring both sides,

y = sqrt(16)

= 4
