A cylinder floats on water because it has more volume as compared to its mass which allow it to float on water. We know that those substances having less mass or weight and more volume so it can float easily on water due to its lower density while on the other hand, if an object have more mass and less volume so it has high density and unable to float on water. So we can say that cylinder floats on water due to its less mass and more volume.
