alexira [117]

Sparta attacked Athens by land.

You must note that the war was started by Sparta, and that Sparta had a better army, while Athens had a better navy. Since Sparta initiated the war, they were usually able to choose whether the battles would mostly be on land or in the sea. Sparta acted on them having a better land force, and invaded through land, which led to Sparta's victory.

Why was the Allied invasion of France (known as D-Day) of major importance?
vovangra [49]

Answer:

I only know 3 of these answers

1: The Allied invasion of France was of major importance during ww2 because it opened a new front of ww2 called the western front. This made Germany have a bigger chance of losing the war because they now have to fight the war on two fronts which is the Eastern Front (The Soviet Union or Russia) and the Western Front (America, France, and Great Britain).

3: Omaha Beach and Utah Beach were the two beaches the Americans landed on during D-Day. (The British landed on Gold Beach and Sword Beach)(The Canadians landed on Juno Beach). Omaha Beach was the bloodiest out of all the 5.

4: The soldiers heard gunshots and explosions everywhere as soon as the ramp went out. They also had to go through barb wire and wooden stakes. In Omaha Beach, there was a gunner nicknamed "The Beast of Omaha." This gunner went through 50-100k bullets of ammo and was shooting at the allied soldiers for 6 hours straight.
