He was going to try to get important spices from India, but instead, he found America and discovered that the earth is round. (he found america, because he didn't have a map and he went  in the wrong direction)
 Here is a saying to help u remember what year he ventured in( i know this isn't what u requested, but I thought it might help u in the future, u might already know the saying) : Mr. Columbus sailed the ocean blue, in the year of 1492! (say it while clapping to the rhythm)
