The South issued the Black Codes named Jim Crow Laws to segregate Blacks from the whites base on race and colour. The laws legalized segregation in the South.  The law allowed separate schools for African American and whites. During this period not only schools but restaurants, hospitals, public places were separated for African Americans. The purpose of this law was to keep African American separated from others.
