UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

The probability that 8 mice are required is 0.2428.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A scientist inoculates mice, one at a time, with a disease germ until he finds 3 that have contracted the disease. If the probability of contracting the disease is two sevenths.

To find : What is the probability that 8 mice are required? The probability that that 8 mice are required is nothing ?

Solution :

Applying binomial distribution,

P(X=r)=^nC_r p^rq^{n-r}

Where, p is the probability of success p=\frac{2}{7}

q is the probability of failure q=1-p, q=1-\frac{2}{7}=\frac{5}{7}

n is total number of trials n=8

r=3

Substitute the values,

P(X=3)=^8C_3 (\frac{2}{7})^3 (\frac{5}{7})^{8-3}

P(X=3)=\frac{8!}{3!5!}\times \frac{8}{343}\times (\frac{5}{7})^{5}

P(X=3)=\frac{8\times 7\times 6}{3\times 2\times 1}\times \frac{8}{343}\times \frac{3125}{16807}

P(X=3)=0.2428

Therefore, the probability that 8 mice are required is 0.2428.

Dr. Mann mixed 9.357 g of chemical A, 12.082 g of chemical B, and 7.502 g of chemical C to make 5 doses of medicine. About how m
SOVA2 [1]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

.

1) About how much medicine did he make in grams?

Dr. Mann mixed

9.357 g of chemical A,

12.082 g of chemical B,

7.502 g of chemical C

We can determine total amount of medicine that was prepared by Dr. Mann by summing up the chemicals (A,B,C)

=( 9.357grams of A + 12.082grams of B+ 7.502grams of C)

= 28.941 grams in total

The next step is to round up those chemicals value to their nearest tenth as asked by question

Dr. Mann mixed

9.357 g of chemical A= 9.4grams

12.082 g of chemical B,=12.1grams

7.502 g of chemical C =7.5grams

2)Estimate the amount of each chemical by rounding to the nearest tenth of a gram before finding the sum.

Then the sum after rounding up to nearest tenth is

(9.4grams +12.1grams + 7.5grams)

=29 gram

The total cost for a chair, a desk, and a lamp is $562. The desk costs four times as much as the lamp and the chair costs $23 le
alexandr1967 [171]
Ok I’m giving a educated guess here so $562 divided by 3 is 187.3 then you do 187.3-23 which would be 164.3 so if I’m correct it would be 164.3 for both the chair and the lamp and 187.3 for the desk also just a heads up the .3 would be .333333.... :) I will delete if I’m wrong

First Question

circumference = pi * diameter

diameter = circumference/pi = 94.2 in./3.14 = 30 in.

The wheels have a 30-inch diameter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Second question

The area of a circle: area = pi * r^2

radius = diameter/2 = 94.2 in./2 = 47.1 in.

area = pi * r^2 = 3.14 * 47.1 in. * 47.1 in. = 6966 in.^2

Answer: 6966 in.^2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Third question

The piece of felt has a width equal to the diameter of the wheel. The length has to be the same as 4 diameters.

4 * 94.2 in. = 376.8 in.

Answer: 376.8 in.
