The renaissance was a time of rebirth and an interest in the classical ideas. People were becoming more open to new thinking and new techniques developed. In science, we can see advances in biology. The microscope was invented, ideas on astronomy, and the earth, and a lot of inventions. If you classify them as scientific, there was the musket and printing press, and the telescope. Health progressed past just faith and herbs. Sanitary conditions improved, vaccines developed, and understanding of the human body grew. Ideas from deVinci's notebook can be seen today. For religion, philosophies like humanism, a focus on individualism and position in the world, grew. The church was against humanism as they focused more on life after death but humanism also appreciated the present. The emergence of different thinking helped people grow away from the church and explore new ideas. They were more open to some growing ideas, like rationalism and secularism. People were more skeptical of religion and more focused on a human and present centered perspective.

Who was France's, King Louis XIV?

Louis XIV, who was born in 1638, succeeded his father Louis XIII as king when he was five years old. His 72-year reign, which ended with his death in 1715, was the longest of any European monarch. He outlived both his son and his grandson by the time of his death, handing the kingdom to his young great-grandson Louis XV. Not simply because it lasted so long, but also because Louis XIV was a resolute leader who was determined to compel his subjects to serve him and establish his kingdom as the dominating force in Europe, Louis XIV's reign was significant in the history of France. More than any other French monarch, Louis came near to putting the absolutist political philosophy into practice.

Olenka [21]

Answer: In 1959, a young senator wrote an article for a young magazine called "TV Guide" trumpeting the potential for the new medium of television to permanently change the way politics worked. In a little more than a year, that same senator, John F. Kennedy, would be elected president of the United States, thanks in no small part to his charismatic performance in a series of televised debates with opponent Richard Nixon and a TV ad campaign that featured some catchy jingles. Three years later, news coverage of Kennedy's assassination would captivate the country, becoming one of the first major tragedies covered by network news [source: Kaid]. By that time, television's place in shaping the political landscape was undeniable.
