First you have to solve for x. X=32.
5*32-12=148
148=(3y-8).
y=52

Answer:

y is equal to nine and two thirds, or 9.666...

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this, we first need to know the value of x.  We can see though that x + (x - 12) is equal to 180 degrees, so:

x + 5x - 12 = 180

6x = 192

x = 32

Now that we have x, we can use the same rule to solve for y:

3y - 8 = x

3y - 8 = 32

3y = 40

y = 40 / 3

So y = 40/3, or 9 and 2/3

Bonus:

I almost wonder if the question was printed incorrectly, as the answer would have been a nice tidy integer if the other corner was 3y + 8 instead of 3y - 8.

If that were the case we'd have:

3y + 8 = 32

3y = 24

y = 8

A nice clean answer

To be clear, this last bit is NOT the correct answer, just an observation. If the book tells you that eight is the answer, then the question is misprinted.

It would be T divided by 5. If Jeffery read a book essentially 1/5 of the size of Toby's book then T divided by 5 would have to be the answer.

A man was traveling by air is allowed a maximum of 20kg luggages .The man has four bags weighing 3.5kg ,15 kg ,2kg and 1.5kg .Fi
KatRina [158]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Maximum weight = 20 kg

Bag 1 = 3.5kg

Bag 2 = 15 kg

Bag 3 = 2kg

Bag 4 = 1.5kg

Total weight of bags = 22 kg

Excess weight of his luggage = Total weight of bags - Maximum weight

= 22 kg - 20 kg

= 2 kg

Express the excess weight as a percentage of his maximum weight allowed = excess weight / maximum weight × 100

= 2/20 × 100

= 0.1 × 100

= 10%

Express the excess weight as a percentage of his maximum weight allowed = 10%

The 4 angles of heptagon equal and each of other 3 is 20° greater the first 4.Find the angles
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

interior angle of a heptagon = 900 degrees

900 = 4x + (3x + 60)

840 = 7x

840/7 = 120

X = 120

120 X 4 = 480

120 X 3 = 360

480 + 360 + 60 = 900

4 angles = 120 degrees each

3 angles = 140 degrees each
