Answer:

x/-8 \geq -5

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Multiply -8 on both sides. --> -8 * \frac{x}{-8\\} \geq -5 *-8

Step 2: Cross out the -8's on the left side leaving x by it self. Solve.

--> <u><em>x </em></u>\leq<u><em> 40</em></u>

P.S.: Remember to flip signs because you multiplied by a negative on the x.

Determine the ordered pair that satisfies the equation, -5x + 3y = 7.
sammy [17]

Answer:

C) (7 , 14)

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitute each ordered pair into the equation

-5x + 3y = 7.

A) (2 , -1)

-5(2) +3(1) = -10 +3 = -7  this does not equal 7  so not true

B) (-5 , 3)

-5(-5) +3(3) = 25 +9 = 34  this does not equal 7 so not true

C) (7 , 14)

-5(7) + 3(14) = -35 + 42 = 7  this equals 7 so true

D) (-2 ,−135)

-5(-2) + 3(-135) =10+405 =415  this does not equal 7 so not true

Find the center of the circle that you can circumscribe about DABC.
Vlada [557]

The center of the circle that circumscribe about DABC is (h,k) = (1, 5).

A circle can be modelled after a expression of the form:

A\cdot x + B\cdot y + C =-x^{2}-y^{2} (1)

We can determine all coefficients by knowing three <em>distinct</em> points on plane.

If we know that (x_{1}, y_{1}) = (2, 8), (x_{2}, y_{2}) = (0, 8) and (x_{3}, y_{3}) = (2, 2), then the solution of the system of linear equations is:

2\cdot A + 8\cdot B + C = -68 (2)

8\cdot B + C = -64 (3)

2\cdot A + 2\cdot B + C = -8 (4)

A = -2, B = -10, C = 16

Now we proceed to <em>complete</em> squares and factor each resulting perfect square trinomial in order to determine the coordinates of the center of the circle:

x^{2}+y^{2}-2\cdot x -10\cdot y +16 = 0

(x^{2}-2\cdot x +1)-1+(y^{2}-10\cdot y +25)-25 +16 = 0

(x-1)^{2}+(y-5)^{2}= 10

The center of the circle that circumscribe about DABC is (h,k) = (1, 5).

Name other places where you would see slope in the real world.
Brilliant_brown [7]
Mountains would be a good example of this. While they do not have a straight rise, you can just take the average.

Ladders are another example. You can calculate the slope of a ladder to make sure it wont fall.

I hope this helped you understand about the uses of slopes in the real world! If this is confusing, don't be hesitant to drop a DM.
