A sign language is a type of language in which people use their hands, faces, and bodies to communicate. While ASL is the main s

ign language used by deaf communities in the United States and parts of Canada, its use is not limited to that population. In fact, ASL is a valuable language for many hearing people to learn. One way learning American Sign Language is invaluable is because it makes communication possible for many different people. For instance, some people who can hear but cannot speak, or have difficulty speaking, find ASL very useful. And many hearing people who have friends or family members who are hearing impaired often learn ASL to better understand or be understood by their loved ones It's also uplifting to learn American Sign Language because it is a very rich, complex language. The shape, placement, and motion of the hands, as well as facial expressions and body movements all play an important part. They give the language beauty.
In the first two paragraphs, the author makes a polnt to try to convince you that learning ASL is worthwhile. Select the highlighted sentence that states the main polnt.

Hey there!

The answer is "In fact, ASL is a valuable language for many hearing people to learn"

This sentence states the main point. One might think that the answer is actually "One way learning American Sign Language is invaluable is because it makes communication possible for many different people", but this is NOT correct. This is a supporting detail. The main statement is when the author first introduces the topic.

Have a super awesome day! :)
