The microbiology lab was able to isolate one of the organisms from Tara’s blood. Using a Kirby-Bauer test (disk diffusion assay)
Lynna [10]

Answer:

Amoxicillin and Tetracycline

Explanation:

Kirby-Bauer test is used to determine the susceptibility of a bacteria to an antibiotic. The target bacteria is grown on an agar plate. Antibiotic wafers are places on these plates. After some time, the plate is checked. Zone of inhibition (ZOI) is the area around the wafer where no bacteria survived. A reference table is checked for determining the susceptibility of the bacteria to a particular antibiotic. If the value of ZOI is smaller than the value required for susceptibility (S), it means that the bacteria is resistant to that antibiotic.

From the given data, ZOI for Amoxicillin is 25 and S value is ≥29 so the organism in question is resistant to Amoxicillin and Amoxicillin is not an appropriate choice for treatment. Similarly, ZOI for Tetracycline is 18 and S value is ≥19 hence it is not the appropriate choice for treatment.

Why do vertebrate embryos show similarities between organisms that do not appear in the adults?
yKpoI14uk [10]

It is believed that this happens because some signals that regulate development are the same between different species and because they share ancient genes. These ancient genes are expressed during a middle "phylotypic stage" of embryonic development for all species.

For example, human and animal embryos go through very similar stages of early development and share similar features such as tails and gill-like structures. The major difference appears to be how long it takes to reach each of these same stages.

Doubling of plasma sodium concentration be a reasonable approximation of plasma osmolality?
harkovskaia [24]
No. The doubling of sodium accounts for the negative ions associated with sodium and the exclusion of potassium approximately allows for the incomplete dissociation of sodium chloride. Osmolarity is the calculation of the osmolar convergence of plasma and is corresponding to the quantity of particles per liter of arrangement; it is communicated as mmol/L. This is what is utilized when a figured esteem is inferred.
