Cardinal flower has scentless, bright red flowers that are long and tubular. What is the most likely pollinator of this plant?
Bond [772]

Answer:

Hummingbird

Explanation:

Pollination is the process by which pollen grains are transferred from anther of a flower to stigma. It is a vital process required for reproduction of new plants.

Cardinal flower has two upper petals and three lower spreading petals. All the petals combine to form a tube at the base. Hence the flowers get a tubular shape. Insects can not enter the tubular flower easily so humming birds usually pollinate these flowers. The hummingbirds feeds on its nectar and pollinates the flower in the process.

: the pertussis toxin was found to interfere with the ligand-binding site in g-protein coupled receptors. at which point in the
Ronch [10]
The point at which the toxin would interrupt normal cell signalling in the pathway is the signal amplification.
This is because of the G-protein uncoupling and inhibition of signal amplification by pertusis toxin. Pertusis toxin released by the bacteria Bordetella pertusis and prevents signal that is amplifying from the protein. The G-protein coordinates the interaction between membrane bound receptor proteins and the effector proteins involved in the intracellular signalling. The toxin promotes the uncoupling of this heterotrimetric protein and also inhibits the amplification thus preventing the interaction of the receptor proteins and the second messengers.

Question 1 of 34
Ivenika [448]

Answer:

A) They occupy different niches due to competition for food.

Explanation:

According to Joseph Grinnel - "An ecological niche is the distributional unit within which each species is held by its structural and instinctive limitation. No two species in the same general territory can occupy the same ecological niche". Hence, the two lizard species have separated their trophic niches i.e. the ecological niche in which they feed, as they both have common preys that is the insects. this will avoid competition and would provide enough food for both the species.
