The U.S court system is similar to the eyre institution. Justice can obtain a profit from the defendant if this is found guilty, the court takes his or her property. Also, they contribute to creating the common law from the hearing of pleas, which are taken into account when making the final decision.

If a person was found guilty, the court took his/her land, and the king obtained it as a profit.  Besides, this institution helped to develop the common law in which the decisions that the jury and judge take in court are based on a set of unwritten and unacted rules that use common sense to reach a final decision.
