What is the slope of the line shown in the graph?
n200080 [17]

\bf (\stackrel{x_1}{-2}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{2})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{0}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{1}) \\\\\\ slope = m\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{ y_2- y_1}}{\stackrel{run}{ x_2- x_1}}\implies \cfrac{1-2}{0-(-2)}\implies \cfrac{1-2}{0+2}\implies -\cfrac{1}{2}

From the lighthouse 1000 ft above sea level the angle of depression to boat a is 29 degress.a little bit later the boat moved cl
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer: The boat moved 768.51 feet  in that time .

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Height of the lighthouse = 1000 feet

Angle depression to boat 'a' = 29°

Angle of depression  to shore 'b' = 44°

Consider ΔABC,

\tan 44\textdegree=\frac{AB}{BC}\\\\\tan 44\textdegree=\frac{1000}{BC}\\\\BC=\frac{1000}{\tan 44\textdegree}\\\\BC=1035.53\ feet

Now, Consider, ΔABD,

\tan 29\textdegree=\frac{AB}{BD}\\\\\tan 29\textdegree=\frac{1000}{BD}\\\\BD=\frac{1000}{\tan 29\textdegree}\\\\BD=1804.04\ feet

We need to find the distance that the boat moved in that time i.e. BC

so,

DC=BD-BC\\\\CD=1804.04-1035.53\\\\CD=768.51\ feet

Hence, the boat moved 768.51 feet  in that time .

5/8 + 11/12 in fraction simplified in simplest form
Katarina [22]
You need to get the lowest common denominator first, this would be 24 (8 x 3 and 12 x 2)
So multiple he top and bottom to get the denominator to 24
For 5/8: 5 x 3 = 15 and 8 x 3 = 24
For 11/12: 11 x 2 = 22 and 12 x 2 - 24
so you have 15/24 and 22/24
Then you add the numerators together 15 + 22 = 37, to become 37/24 and because 37 is prime 37/24 is simplest terms
