The war on poverty has been designed to removing the lawlessness  and poverty by providing equal opportunities, that were lacking, and improving the living standards of the low-income groups.

The war on poverty, can be called as a nick name to the 40 programs, issued up by a legislation of United states, the Economic opportunity Act in 1964.

This legislation was came in response to the National Poverty Rate, which had reached 19%, by the President Lyndon. B. Johnson. The most prominent initiatives in these programs were, <em>as follows;</em>

  • The first one was, The Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, <em>this had led to the formation of  Community Action Program, like, Job Corps and Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), </em>
  • <em>Food Stamp Act of 1964,</em>
  • Social Security <em>Act 1965,</em>
  • <em> Elementary and Secondary Education Act,</em>

These were the significant programs under this act, and the responsibility of execution was given to Office of Economic Opportunity, for the execution and success of this legislation.
