Pre-historic people lived during the Last Glacial period, which started around 110.000 years ago and ended in 10.000 BCE. This period was characterized by the advance and retreat of glaciers around the world. For instance the Artic  ice cap was formed around 11.000 BCE and this allowed the first people from Asia to cross the Bering Strait to America.

Although glaciers made their life hard, at the same time they provided an exitway to get into a new territory. This new land offered options for hunting,  to plant and crop.
