Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1. An equation is said to be linear if the variables have power not greater than 1.

Thus, the linear equations from the list are:

B. Y = \frac{2}{3}x + 6

C. Y = |x| + 4

D .Y = 2x - 5

2. Comparing the equations with y = mx ± c, the constant rate of change for each linear equation are:

B. \frac{2}{3}

C. 1

D. 2

3. The constant rate of change is the gradient (slope) of a linear equation. It describes the steepness of a line from the plot of points obtained from the linear equation.

You can use the distance formula:
\sqrt{( x_{2}- x_{1})^2 + ( y_{2}- y_{1})^2   }

To figure out what the distance between the points is. Our x1 is -1, and our y1 is 3. Our x2 is 7, and our y2 is -3. Then, we can just plug it in, and solve:
\sqrt{( 7- (-1)^2 + ( 3- 3)^2 }

Simplify:
\sqrt{(8)^2+0} =  \sqrt{64}

Simplify Further (S is the distance):
S=8

So, the answer is D, 8 units. If you want me to explain what I did, just tell me, I sure will! :) Anything still unclear?

alex41 [277]
Yes it is true as long as long as the corresponding sides are congruent they are similar.
