Answer:

8y=  -16

7x=   -7

so 1y =-2 meaning 8y is -16 + 7x and if 1x is -1  then it is -7 altogether so if you add -16 and -7 you get -23

For each sequence, find the first 4 terms and the 10th term.<br> a) 3n + 4<br> b) 4n-5
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the first 4 terms substitute n = 1, 2, 3, 4 into the formula, that is

(a)

a₁ = 3(1) + 4 = 3 + 4 = 7

a₂ = 3(2) + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10

a₃ = 3(3) + 4 = 9 + 4 = 13

a₄ = 3(4) + 4 = 12 + 4 = 16

Similarly substitute n = 10 for tenth term

a₁₀ = 3(10) + 4 = 30 + 4 = 34

(b)

a₁ = 4(1) - 5 = 4 - 5 = - 1

a₂ = 4(2) - 5 = 8 - 5 = 3

a₃ = 4(3) - 5 = 12 - 5 = 7

a₄ = 4(4) - 5 = 16 - 5 = 11, and

a₁₀ = 4(10) - 5 = 40 - 5 = 35

Given f(x) = x² + 2 and g(x) = x + 14<br>Find the values of a such that f(a) = g(a)
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

a = - 3, a = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given f(x) = x² + 2 and g(x) = x + 14 , then

f(a) = a² + 2 and g(a) = a + 14

For f(a) = g(a) , then equate the right sides

a² + 2 = a + 14 ( subtract a + 14 from both sides )

a² - a - 12 = 0 ← in standard form

(a - 4)(a + 3) = 0 ← in factored form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for a

a + 3 = 0 ⇒ a = - 3

a - 4 = 0 ⇒ a = 4

I really need help with this question well mostly the whole thing
fenix001 [56]

5\sqrt{18} can be written as 15√2 in the exact radical form.

We can write any form of this type as \sqrt[n]{ab}  = \sqrt[n]{a}.\sqrt[n]{b}

We can write 5\sqrt{18} as:

18 can be rewritten as 3×3×2.

⇒ 5√2×3×3

Pull the term 3 out from the radical and we get

⇒ 5×3√2

On multiplying 3 by 5 and we get,

⇒ 15√2

5\sqrt{18} can be written in its simplified form as 15√2.
