1. Dictators emerged so often because South America was going through the Cold War where two major powers tried to expand their influence to be bigger than the others. The Soviet Union helped support communist revolutions across south and Central America. The United States of America’s supplied these anti revolutionaries with weapons and manpower. America also installed dictators for the sake of their dominance
2. The Japanese government handled the economic crisis after WW2 really well. They achieved this by “stimulating private sector growth, first by instituting regulations and protectionism that effectively managed economic crises and later by concentrating on trade expansion”. Economic aid from the U.S to help Japan recover (to expand their influence) didn’t hurt.
The Great Wall of China was built to protect the Chinese from invaders (such as the Mongolians or any other neighboring country from attacking). It was originally build to defend from one side, but later was restructured to defend against all sides.
