If i had to guess, 19 blocks?
If his home is at (0,0) and he goes to (0,6) that’s 6 blocks. Then he goes to (7,6) which is only 7 more blocks since he was already at (0,6), so now he’s at 13 blocks. Lastly, if he goes from (7,6) to (7,0) that would add 6 more blocks making it 19 blocks.
However there wasn’t a picture included so i’m not sure if you would also add the blocks it took him to get home again. If they want you to include him getting home again then the answer would be 26 blocks, if not 19 blocks.

The amount of time all students in a very large undergraduate statistics course take to complete an examination is distributed c
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

a) The mean is \mu = 60

b) The standard deviation is \sigma = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

Normal Probability Distribution:

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

The probability a student selected at random takes at least 55.50 minutes to complete the examination equals 0.6915.

This means that when X = 55.5, Z has a pvalue of 1 - 0.6915 = 0.3085. This means that when X = 55.5, Z = -0.5

So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

-0.5 = \frac{55.5 - \mu}{\sigma}

-0.5\sigma = 55.5 - \mu

\mu = 55.5 + 0.5\sigma

The probability a student selected at random takes no more than 71.52 minutes to complete the examination equals 0.8997.

This means that when X = 71.52, Z has a pvalue of 0.8997. This means that when X = 71.52, Z = 1.28

So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

1.28 = \frac{71.52 - \mu}{\sigma}

1.28\sigma = 71.52 - \mu

\mu = 71.52 - 1.28\sigma

Since we also have that \mu = 55.5 + 0.5\sigma

55.5 + 0.5\sigma = 71.52 - 1.28\sigma

1.78\sigma = 71.52 - 55.5

\sigma = \frac{(71.52 - 55.5)}{1.78}

\sigma = 9

\mu = 55.5 + 0.5\sigma = 55.5 + 0.5*9 = 55.5 + 4.5 = 60

Question

The mean is \mu = 60

The standard deviation is \sigma = 9

Santos is a lifeguard and spots a drowning child 50 meters along the shore and 60 meters from the shore to the child. Santos run
Amanda [17]

Answer:

Santos should run approximately 36.145 meters along the shore

Step-by-step explanation:

The given parameters are;

The distance along the shore of the child = 50 meters

The distance from the shore of the child = 60 meters

The rate at which Santos can run = 4 m/s

The rate he can swim = 0.9 m/s

Let 'x' represent the distance he runs along the shore

We have;

The time he spends running on the shore, t₁ = x/4

The time he spends swimming, t₂ = (√(60² + (50 - x)²)/0.9

The total time, T = t₁ + t₂ = x/4 + (√(60² + (50 - x)²)/0.9

To find the maximum, we have;

dT/dx = 0 = d(x/4 + (√(60² + (50 - x)²)/0.9)/dx = 1/4 - (50 - x)/(0.9·(√(60² + (50 - x)²) = 0

1/4 - (50 - x)/(0.9·(√(60² + (50 - x)²) = 0

Simplifying using a graphing calculator gives;

\dfrac{x - 2000}{9} = \sqrt{x^2-100\cdot x+6,100}

1519·x² - 151900·x + 3505900 = 0

x = (151900 ± √((-151900)² - 4×1519×3505900))/(2 × 1519)

x ≈ 63.86 m or x ≈ 36.145 m

We note that the distance from a point x = 63.83 meters and 36.145 meters from where Santos spots the girl to the location of the girl are the same

Therefore, Santos should run approximately 36.145 meters along the shore before jumping into to the water in order to save the child

Paulo can run a marathon in four hours and 20 minutes. If he's able to cut of 18% of his time, how long will it take him to run
Inga [223]
Cut out 18%
100=all,
all-cut out=remaining
100-18=82

4hrs 20mins=240+20mins=260mins
82% of 260 is 0.82*20=213.2=3 hours and 33.2 minutes

he can runi s 3 hours and 33.2 minutes
