Step-by-step explanation:

When the sum of two angles is equal to 90 degrees, they are called complementary angles.

So

x + x + 50° = 90°

2x = 90° - 50°

2x = 40°

x = 40°/2

x = 20°

x + 50 = 20 + 50 = 70°

Hope it helps :)

Answer:

let 1st angle be x

and another angle be x+50°

<em>two angles are said to be</em><em> </em><em>complement</em><em>ary</em><em>,</em><em>if</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>some</em><em> </em><em>of</em><em> </em><em>their</em><em> </em><em>measures</em><em> </em><em>is</em><em> </em><em>9</em><em>0</em><em>°</em>

so,

x+x+50=90

2x+50 =90

2x=90-50

x=40/2

:-x= 20 ....... 1st angle

another angle (x+50)=20+50=70°

A man is five times as old as his son. Four years ago, he was nine times as old. Find their present ages.
Aleonysh [2.5K]
Let us assume the age of the son now = x
Then
The age of the man now = 5x
Now we have to calculate the age of the son and father 9 years ago
Age of the son 4 years ago = x - 4
Age of the man 4 years ago = 5x - 4
Then
5x - 4 = 9(x - 4)
5x - 4 = 9x - 36
5x - 9x = -36 + 4
- 4x = - 32
MUltiplying both sides of the equation by -1 we get
4x = 32
x = 32/4
  = 8
So the present age of the son is 8 years
Present age of the man = 5x
                                       = 5 * 8
                                       = 40 years
So the present age of the man is 40 years and the present age of the son is 8 years.

Please help me out.....................
larisa86 [58]

Answer:

y = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

The opposite sides of a parallelogram are congruent, hence

x + 10 = 110 - 4x ( add 4x to both sides )

5x + 10 = 110 ( subtract 10 from both sides )

5x = 100 ( divide both sides by 5 )

x = 20

Using the other pair of congruent sides, then

3y - 10 = 2x - 20 = (2 × 20) - 20 = 40 - 20 = 20, thus

3y - 10 = 20 ( add 10 to both sides )

3y = 30 ( divide both sides by 3 )

y = 10
