area of a triangle is base times height, then you divide that by 2

so:

6/5 x 4/3

24/15 (simplify this to 8/5)

8/5 x 1/2

8/10 = 4/5 ft

Answer:

1 1/3 ft square

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a triangle formula: (bh) / 2

6/3 x 4/3 = 8/3

8/3 x 1/2 = 4/3 = 1 1/3 ft^2

The distance between the two islands shown on the map is 210 miles. A ruler measures this distance on the map as 3.5 inches. How
AlexFokin [52]
The 'scale' of the map is a ratio (or a fraction).

It's (length on the map) / (distance in the real world) .

Different maps have different scales, but the scale is normally the same
everywhere on the same map. So no matter where it is on the map, or how
long the distance is on the map, the ratio is always the same number on that
map.

On this particular map in this question, the ratio is (3.5 inches) / (210 miles) .
Any other measurement on the same map has the same ratio ... and what do
you have when you have equal ratios ?? That's right ! A proportion ! !

The other measurement has the ratio (1.75 inches) / (X miles) , and THAT
fraction is equal to the other one.

(1.75) / ( X )  =  (3.5) / (210)

Cross-multiply in the proportion:  (1.75 times 210)  =  (3.5 times  X).

Can you find 'X' now ?

Hint: Divide both sides of that equation by 3.5 .

Write the equation in standard form.

8−5y=−2x
MrMuchimi

bearing in mind that

standard form for a linear equation means

• all coefficients must be integers, no fractions

• only the constant on the right-hand-side

• all variables on the left-hand-side, sorted

• "x" must not have a negative coefficient

8 - 5y = - 2x

2x - 5y = - 8

Bradley invested an average of $550 per month since age 49 in various securities for his retirement savings. His investments ave
avanturin [10]
To estimate the amount Bradley would have at age 73 if he started investing in 40 we use the future annuity formula given by:
A=P[((1+r)^n-1)/r]
where:
P=principle
r=rate
n=time
thus plugging in the values we get:
A=12×550=$6600
n=73-40=33
r=7%
hence
A=6600[((1.07)^33-1)/0.07]
simplifying the ^ we get:
A=784,960.6054
Hence the answer is: $784, 960.6054
