His parents died when he was still pretty young and his older brother had to take over as a parent. chapter 1 or 2 (pretty sure it was 2) shows how darry was so mad at ponyboy(sodapops younger brother) and how sodapop had to come between them. he also had to quit school to help darry with family work. sorry thats all i remember
