First you find 2 points so (-7,-2) and (-9,2) find the slope by starting from the LEFT point and go down so it is equal level to the right point. Once you do that count to the right and get that number to get the slope in this case it is 2/4x or 1/2x no find the y intercept which is where in meets the y axis which is -8 now you have the answer y= 1/2x + -8 make sure to use the formula y= Mx + b to make it easier. f(x2) - f(x1) over x2 - x1. That's the formula for average rate of change.

So for Section A:

f(x) = 5x, (0,1)

[f(1) - f(0)]/(1-0)

= [5(1) - 5(0)]/1

=(5)/1

=5

Do the same for section B and you'll get 5 as well.
