It affected the south by making them mad because they believed that slavery was the right thing for the united states. it affected the united states by a whole by tearing the county apart but it also made slavery completely illegal. A lot of people think that what we did in the past is bad and then we should regretful. It has helped make african americans people more accepted into our world.
